Modern British cuisine rubs well-seasoned shoulders with a variety of succulent grills and international dishes on the menu at Brassica Grill. Stockport has welcomed this honest gourmet restaurant ever since restaurateur Paul Faulkner (Manchester’s The Modern, Zinc, and Albert Square Chophouse, London’s Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge and OXO Tower) set up shop along Shaw Road in Heaton Moor. With a carefully chosen, seasonal menu (including a very tempting and very affordable prix fixe menu), people are flocking to Brassica Grill from around Greater Manchester.

Brassica Grill’s fixed price set menu is a great way to explore what this Stockport restaurant’s considered, gourmet offering is all about. Choose from two or three courses, from noon to 7pm, and expect nothing but locally-sourced ingredients brought together in dishes such as an Andalusian gazpacho, grilled Goosnargh chicken, and a delectable Yorkshire rhubarb and custard dessert. With Brassica Grill, down Shaw Road in Heaton Moor, you can find the best of British with an international set of inspirations at work in the kitchen.
Brassica Grill’s a la carte menu is equally down-to-earth, with a strong showing of the grilled meat and vegetable dishes that are this Stockport’s restaurants forte, and a similarly strong demonstration of how Faulkner can capably marry British cuisine with international flavours and textures. Grilled Wye Valley asparagus with portobello mushrooms and a truffled poached egg sauce are a great vegetarian starter. Brassica Grill’s popular grills keep the kitchen busy down Shaw Road, and the restaurant is already well-known among Heaton Moor locals for its 28-day aged steaks and chops, sourced from premium suppliers and proudly displayed separately from the mains. When it comes to these, Loch Duart salmon, Icelandic cod, Goosnargh chicken, and High Peak spring lamb are evidence of the attention that Brassica Grill pay to what makes it to table.
For such a large party, 4 young children and 9 adults, the staff and food were fantastic. From start to finish there was an incredibly relaxed atmosphere. Well worth another visit.
Food was excellent and beautifully presented. Staff very attentive but didn't rush us to leave which allowed to two old school friends time to catch up. Complimentary chocolates lovely touch. I have recommended to my friends and will be coming back. Thankyou Ben for looking after us so well!
A really lovely intimate restaurant, perfect for us girls catching up for a right good chinwag - you can actually hear yourselves speak! Service was perfect, staff fantastic and the food is by far the best we've had in a long time. For me, a beautiful salted beef scotch egg to start and the tastiest steak I've ever had for main, perfectly cooked too. We will be back! Thanks guys!!
Took my parents and my girlfriends parents here for a meal. Lovely food and drinks nice calming atmostphere. I will definitely recommend to friends and family
Book Sunday lunch at Brassica Grill for a table of four; the food was excellent, particularly the Ox Tongue salad starter and the Pork belly main course; both dishes were on the fixed price menu which offers a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains & 3 desserts with 2 courses for £14 and 3 courses charged at £17, this proves to be fantastic value for a bib gourmand rated restaurant. The staff were pleasant and knowledgeable, if a little slow due to a very busy looking service. Parking can be a little tricky given the restaurants location within a small row of shops in a residential area; however there is spaces to be found within a short walking distance. Overall, the food and drinks were of a high standard and good value and I would, therefore, have no hesitation in recommending Brassica Grill.
After hearing good things about this restaurant I thought I would give it a go. I was never convinced by the decor & it did put me off going. I was wrong ! You will not be disappointed. The food was excellent as was the wine we chose. The food was reasonably priced for the high standard that we received. I have paid more for not as good. The young manager that looked after us was a credit to the restaurant. Happy, knowledgeable & good service. We had a good evening. I don't like to recommend normally but this is one place that I will. We will be back again soon....
We ordered the salt beef scotch eggs and aubergine to start - very good. For our main courses we had cod with spiced lentils, and a sirloin steak. The cod was cooked perfectly and the lentils were delicious but it also had an avocado and coriander side which was an odd pairing. The first steak was over cooked, I asked for medium-rare and it wasn't. However the second steak was beautifully cooked and had bags of flavour. The staff were really friendly even when I changed my mind and asked to cancel a desert ( if it wasn't too late). The good stuff was really good but it needs a few tweaks to make it great - some odd food combinations and harsh lighting.
The whole experience was wonderful. It is the first time I can recall going out in a group of 4 where every one of us enjoyed all courses of each meal - usually there is at least one of us who wishes they had something else! The service was also great with the right amount of time between courses and the right level of attentiveness from the staff. All in all a brilliant evening - and we will be back!
This was a birthday treat for my wife. All 4 of us had the special 3 courses for £17.50 each on a quiet Sunday afternoon, post Christmas. All 3 courses were delicious, very well presented and cooked to the highest standard, the standard you would expect in a city centre high class restaurant at twice the cost. Brassica will do very well serving the "Four Heatons" area of Stockport, Manchester and I would strongly recommend you give it a try.
One of the best meals we've had at Brassica (and they've all been good). All dishes were gorgeous but the scallops starter is a stand-out dish , so well balanced with avocado, mango and exactly the right amount of fresh chilli. Both main courses - cod and chicken were perfectly cooked, moist and succulent. Sadly, we didn't have room for pudding. As ever, the service was superb - friendly and efficient, what more could you ask for?
Fantastic food and great service. You have to give the Barnsley chop a go. My Mrs had a brilliant steak. If you're into seasonal food, sourced locally and cooked impeccably, then give Brassica Grill a go.
Staff were there to greet us on arrival and very friendly and helpful throughout the evening. There were 4 in our party and all of us agreed that the food was delicious, each of us having 3 courses. I was pleased to note that one of our favourite wines, Giddy Goose, was on the menu. Overall, a very enjoyable evening and a restaurant to which we will return.
Fantastic service with knowledgeable staff. Unpretentious, and don't refer to you as guys every 3 minutes. Food was absolutely excellent and at a reasonable price too. When we next book, I'd make sure I select a preferred table as it's a small dining room and some are better than others. That's the only but I can find as on the whole we were very impressed with this restaurant.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Brassica. It was an interesting menu with a good choice of dishes. The menu and wine list weren't overloaded which is a common mistake. The food was well cooked and presented. I had pork belly which was cooked to perfection and had a fantastic flavour. The staff were friendly and efficient. I would recommend this restaurant and will certainly be returning.
Was so impressed with the food and service. It was my first visit along with 6 friends and we all said we'll be going there again. Our waitress called Katie was friendly and was a lovely girl, she couldn't have done any more for us, she was amazing and I would say worth her wait in gold to the restaurant, she's definitely an asset!
We went for a family meal to celebrate our son's 21st birthday. The food was lovely, tasty, well presented and the portion sizes were fine for all of us, even my husband who likes a full plate. The staff were attentive and welcomed feedback when my husband, who had a bottled beer with his meal, mentioned that it was served too cold. Overall a very enjoyable meal and we will definitely be going back.
This restaurant is an absolute gem. The menu is small but the choices are great and everything is cooked to perfection. My husband says he had the best steak in the world here! The aubergine starter is to die for. All the staff are super friendly and professional. We've been a few times and it's never let us down.
We always enjoy eating at the Brassica Grill, good food, the early evening menu is especially good value, the service is excellent and we love the atmosphere.
Brassica Grill - excellent as always for quality, service and freshness. I have eaten here before and will continue to do so when in the local area.
Excellent food and nice surroundings. Service was attentive and courteous throughout. "Background" music was turned down at our request (having been a little insistent on arrival - and we were the only folks in for a while). I would have appreciated the red wine being opened before the fillet steaks were brought to the table but that's a minor fault. Happy to return.
The food was first class. The ham hock terrine was impressive, not had it before. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the ambiance was just right. My lamb was as good as I remember having anywhere, including Le Manoir. A most enjoyable night out for the six of us. RCJ
Excellent and attentive service. Initially we were sat by the door, there was a draft but before we had a chance to say anything the manager came to apologise and offered to move us as soon as he could, which he did. The food was lovely and portion size was just right.
Very nice as always. The staff were helpful and the food was fresh and tasty. Good selection of seasonal dishes with something for everyone. Only negative would be that the wine list is not good, we ordered a £25 bottle of wine and it was of very poor quality, almost like vinegar. So a review of this may be due.
The food, the ambiance and the service were very good...as usual. We are never disappointed by the Brassica Grill and look forward to going again.
Been wanting to visit for quite some time but never managed to get round to it well it was certainly worth the wait, ambience was great, food was fantastic all seven of us in our group enjoyed it I certainly won't be leaving it too long before I'm back again
Once again another great experience at Brassica Grill. Lovely food and great service. They never fail to please, nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended.
Great service, delicious food. Thank you. Brassica Grill is always good! I've been there many times with friends and family. That's all for now folks!
Excellent everything at lunch today. Highly competent, helpful staff and relaxed atmosphere and table. Comfortable sitting. What lovely food too! Beautifully presented and very, very tasty, from the bread through to the desserts, a must! Original ideas that work well together. All four guests were delighted with their meal.
We had a lovely time! We were greeted in a very welcoming manner, the service was great and nothing was too much trouble. Considering we all have little foibles and intolerances at our advanced age our waiter was very patient and obliging. The food, as ever, was good. Finishing touch? The chocs and birthday message for husband's 75th.
Excellent steaks! Went there with a group of four for my birthday, and we all had different steaks which were all extremely tasty - I was impressed with my lamb Barnsley chop - very juicy - and the sirloin a friend had. Lovely starters and desserts too.
Food was gorgeous and the service was brilliant. Would definitely come back again. We had booked for a table of two and 2 friends wanted to join us, they changed things around so that our friends could join us just 6 hours before and on NYE.
Scallops starter up to usual standard Lamb was cooked to my liking very tasty and tender, which came with a good amount of veg. Cabbage and bacon was an unusual side dish but very tasty. Washed down with a a glass of Malbec wine. Only negative was the draught from the external door opening occasionally.
The food was really good, you could tell everything was made fresh and could see into the semi open kitchen if you wished. Waiting staff were very attentive and quick. For a Thursday night there was a great atmosphere, I will be going back soon.
We had the two course option for £14 which was terrific value. The pork dish was fabulous, a melt in your mouth meal. Service was excellent. The only advice I'd offer would be for a bit more light in the restaurant, a few lamps etc.
Each course delicious and well presented. Wines pricey but different so worth it. Service very friendly although efficient and professional. A homely setting with a professional look. Already planning to go again. We went on two recommendations and were not disappointed.
Lovely meal, reasonably priced for standard and quality of food. Friendly and efficient staff. Great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to others. I have lived in the Heatons for 30 years and what a great social village it is. Who needs Manchester!!
Very pleasant service, nice sized portions and enjoyed the food I chose. (An Aubergine starter and Plaice for Main course). We didn't try the desserts as we had had enough. I could have chosen all the starters - they all appealed.
Lovely lunch, varied menu no clue why we the only ones there! Perhaps a bit too many options and choices Insleays worry how it can all be fresh so maybe narrow it down as no sign of an obvious theme?
A first visit for both my friend and I at Brassica. We both thought the food and presentation was excellent. The friendly staff and lovely decor made it a great evening for us both. We shall return again. Thank you.
Possibly the best steak you can get in Manchester! Beautifully tender, cooked to perfection and melts in your mouth. Great little I dependant restaurant that I am lucky enough to have as a local. Can not recommend them highly enough!
Met up with friends on a Wednesday evening. The service was excellent and the food delicious. Had to wait a while for the raspberry souffle but well worth it. Our first time at the restaurant and will definitely go back.
Went for the Mother's Day set menu. Fairly limited options but a great price and we were still spoiled for choice. Great food and service. So glad to have a nice restaurant like this so local. Will certainly be back.
We have been a couple of times and on the whole enjoy the food. The fixed price menu gives good value but on our last visit the little pies were rather overcooked. The staff are friendly and efficient and there is a a good atmosphere. Would visit again.
We changed our booking from a table for 4 people to 5 a few hours before and were accommodated with no problems, the table however was in the corner and slightly gloomy with no candle (all other tables had lit candles?) my only very slight criticism. Food was excellent and very good value for money, would definitely recommend Brassica.
We had a lovely evening at The Brasserie for our joint leaving "do". The waiter was extremely helpful and pleasant There was no problem with relocating our tables and menu choiceswere amended without delay The food was delicious Thanks
Delicious food and friendly staff ordered Sunday lunch for 3 and my mum is a very light water so they suggested the kids oration which was still huge. My daughter had plaice which was kindly filleted by the chef
Great food, beautifully prepared and presented, friendly service and overall really good value for money. 3 courses each and a few drinks for 70 quid. Save room for the white chocolate cheesecake - it's delicious! We will be back!
Food was lovely, service was friendly and pleasant. I greatly enjoyed my lamb and steak was flavourful if not quite rare enough for my companion. Food took a while to come but wasn't a problem as we had plenty of time to enjoy the lovely wine!
Four of us ate here on Easter Sunday. There was good variety on the menu, it was beautiful food and great service. The fixed price menu was also very good value for money. We will definitely come again.
A great dining out experience! Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful and all courses served were outstanding. Lovely to find a restaurant that can deliver on all aspects of eating out with no attention to detail spared. Recommended!
