About Bosco Nero
The relationship between Wales and Italy is a long and storied one, especially on the sports field. Whether it be their yearly meetings in the Six Nations (mostly victorious for the Dragons) or their less frequent contretemps on the football pitch (probably one for the Azzurri), or even the combined heritage champions in the boxing ring, Joe Calzaghe and Enzo Maccarinelli, the relationship is well celebrated. On the dinner table, too, the countries are united, and in South Wales, there is a temple to the Gallo-Italian culinary friendship. Bosco Nero is a family-friendly Italian restaurant in Blackwood that brings the best from the bel paese to the Valley, with a menu packed with favourites from front to back. Start with garlic bread, calamari or mussels or melon with port, before moving onto a pasta – spaghetti, lasagne, tagliatelle and tortellini are all there – or a chicken, lamb, veal and steak main, as well as fish or seafood. We chose a Pinot Grigio to go with our meal which complemented our choice perfectly. The bruschetta is the best around and for our main course we had pollo farcito which was delicious as always and highly recommended. It takes a bit longer to cook but is worth the wait.
Really enjoyed the food, reasonable prices nice and cosy atmosphere, staff was friendly and service was quite quick. Would definitely visit again soon, was a little cold inside though
Friendly staff, lovely restaurant, although small, beautiful food. Will certainly be booking again soon with the family as something on the menu to suit everyone
Bosco's is a lovely restaurant, the food is always first class and the service is always very friendly and speedy without feeling like you're being rushed! Always busy so you need to book especially on weekends but that's a good sign!
Initially booked in 16, sent all meal plans per name over on a PDF file and deposit of £80, informed them that 3 cancelled but we replaced one so only two had cancelled, they retook all the meals, took a while hence we already sent it over, thre meals were wrong when served, upon payment as we gave them all the names next to which meal common sense would say bill per person per name, nope not here all 16 of us had to work out who pays what, after that Loretta said we have to work out drinks and puddings separate again and pay downstairs for them to say it was a nightmare was an understatement. Will never book a group booking again, Previous to this I had gone with my partner food wasn't great then either. Thanks The waitress Emma was brilliant I must say she was only doing what Loretta asked.
Really nice restaurant, fab food and I think reasonably priced for a good meal out. Atmosphere is homely and portions sizes well sized, a nice restaurant for a small town
excellent, great food, great location and great atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and buoyant. 10 out of 10. Made my daughters birthday 🎂 feel a great occasion.
Arrived at 19.30 the place was cold and requested some heating on. Three males arrived a short time prior to us, we all made our food orders about the same time the place was empty with no others diners to attend to, but still had to wait over an hour for our food. The food however was good was not a great experience and it was only the background music had any resemblance to a Italian theme or restaurant
