The default destination for those looking to dine Italian in Peterculter, Borsalino has serious pedigree. Established in 1976 and now under second-generation owner Luca Balsamo and his team (including renowned tenor Salvatore), the longevity of Borsalino is the result of a commitment to authentic Italian cuisine and hospitality. So much so that you’ll find people eschewing central Aberdeen eateries in order to take the short trip out to Peterculter to indulge in the restaurant’s signature dishes and be treated to the friendliest service. Besides the main dining room, the Borsalino North Deeside Road address houses a large bar area that can seat up to 35 people for a private dining experience.

When a restaurant has been in the hands of the same family for over thirty years, there is a reason why it’s stood the test of time. And when the same restaurant, open since 1976, is only going from strength to strength, then it simply must be visited. This is the situation at Peterculter restaurant Borsalino, just thirty minutes out of Aberdeen, who have a stellar reputation as serving impeccable Italian cuisine alongside wonderful service, always with a smile.
The menu at Borsalino is an absolute delight with a selection of antipasti, pizza, pasta and secondi mains that will certainly whet your appetite. Try, for example, some starters to share like the bruschetta on crusty Italian bread, affettato misto of cured meat from northern Italy with mozzarella and focaccia or the classic caprese salad. For the main, we love Franco’s homemade lasagna with rich bolognese sauce, vitello limone of escalopes of veal in white wine, with lemon, gratin potatoes and seasonal vegetables or one of the traditional Italian-style pizzas cooked to perfection. You’ll find Borsalino along North Deeside Road in Peterculter out of Aberdeen, where Luca, Franco and the team will blow you away. Bookings are essential.
Excellent service and excellent food what more could you ask for. Salvitori was on great for me as usual. If you want authentic Italian this is the place to go
Lovely food and very relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff, reasonably priced for good quality food, we will definitely be back again very soon.
Our table of four really enjoyed our lunch. We each had a variety of dishes off the menu and were all unanimous in how enjoyable everything was. Great table service in a lovely setting means we will definitely return. The wine was first class too, and the Bottle Shop was an extra bonus.
Latest visit was for a family meal on the occasion of my wife's mothers eightieth birthday, nice table for six of us, good food and good service as usual. My son loves simple pasta with Parmesan cheese in abundance.
The restraunt is warm,no draughts which I hate. The decor is welcoming and homely,Staff are very attentive and friendly. My partner had steak which was cooked to perfection and I had Tagliatelle with bolognaise sauce which was tasty. Half way through our meal we had the delight of the owner who is Italian seranading everyone in the small but cosy restaurant with his wonderful voice and a few well chosen Italian songs. I would have given a score of 6 (top score) but last visit there was a very nice man quietly strumming a guitar most of the night which I very much enjoyed sadly he wasn't there this time round. But a very enjoyable night. We look forward to visiting again soon. Kim&Robert
Hadn't been to Borsalino for years but heard lots of good things about it so made a point of meeting friends on our way home from weekend away. Food was delicious and staff very pleasant and attentive. Lovely varied menu and all five of our party thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
We're been going to Borsalinos for years but this was the best meal ever. Scallops to start with, then lamb, vegetables and gratin potatoes and a Tia Maria coffee. And some nice red wine to accompany it all. Could not manage desert, far to full. Wonderful!
Very friendly, will go again. Tempted to drop my rating down to a 5 as I find it aggravating to have to write a short story to be allowed to leave feed back for such a good restaurant, but that is not Borsalino's fault.
Excellent as always Luka. Never disappointed to come to Borsalino. The food is fantastic, (top tip - try the ribeye with potato gratin), and the atmosphere is relaxing. Best place to be after a hard week at work.
Had a fantastic meal at Borsalinos as always, it's one of the best Italian restaurants in Peterculter and the food is amazing and the service is second to none, so looking forward to going back. Excellent place.
Excellent evening! Food, service and atmosphere were all great. Good value for money. No complaints whatsoever. We have been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed with our evenings in Borsalino.
We love going to Borsalino it is a great restaurant the food is great and the staff are all so friendly it is a real tonic just to go there.
Borsalino's is our local Italian restaurant as well as being Italian of choice in the area. The menu, service, and quality we have found invariably very good and the ambiance always ensures a very enjoyable experience.
It was the first time I have been for many years. It was a pleasant surprise from the log fire where we had pre dinner drinks to the meal and the singing waiter. Enjoyed the whole evening and never felt rushed. We stayed until closing time making it a really enjoying evening with good food.
Excellent food and a lovely atmosphere all round. The staff were very attentive and our meals were delivered promptly. We would definitely come back. The car park was a bit of a free for all, but this is a very minor gripe.
Our table was booked for 5.30 and already the restuarant was busy but this did not cause any problem to the very tentative staff. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We also had two beautiful songs from Salvatori.
Great food expertly prepared and good service too from a well established Italian family owned restaurant and the (Italian) chef excelled Not much atmosphere as we were the only table occupied but perhaps not too surprising considering it was a cold and snowy February lunch outing.
Love this family run Italian restaurant! Food always delicious and served with a smile ! Menu suitable for all , specials and set menus available . Great choices of wine and beer . Will not be disappointed
Great meal and meeting the original founder Franco still serving.( waiter of the year) Food is as good as it was when he was the main man in the seventies.( possibility still is the main man)
Amazing food, peaceful atmosphere, warm and polite friendly staff. Do half portions too which is ideal for light eaters. Prices are really good for the quality presented. The specials were phenomenal, didn't want to stop eating.
A warm family restaurant atmosphere, excellent food, do check the specials... My swordfish steak was gorgeous. Attentive service. If you're lucky you may get a song or two from one of the waiters 😀.
Excellent meal, friendly service and a fine bottle of wine. We use the restaurant on a reasonably regular basis and have yet to come away not satisfied. Try it you wont be disappointed.
Great food, great atmosphere, staff friendly but a little lax when it comes to being attentive, tend to forget that your there, sounds bad but it did not spoil our night.
A family Italian restaurant with good atmosphere. Food was good and a wide choice. Quaintly old fashioned and rather retro. We will go again. Busy so will remember to book.
Lovely family run business, beautiful location and interior. Clearly devoted to the running of the restaurant. Great atmosphere with friendly staff and the food was amazing!!! I would high recommend.
The food was freshly cooked and tasted fab, staff attentive and lovely atmosphere , we have been going to the borsolino for years it just gets better and better
Fabulous restaurant. Lovely food. Wide choice of menu. Great service. Thoughtful extras, such as a chilled bottle of water and bread on the table. Brilliant eating experience! Highly recommended!
Beautiful meal. Fantastic service. A man was playing the Guitar while we ate which was very romantic and chilled out. Will be back again for sure. Highly recommend 5*****

We were seated quickly and the food was delicious, fresh and very good quality. It all came out at the same time too! I can see it becoming a family favourite
Great food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. Have been twice now and each time i have not been disappointed. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Lovely quaint and intimate setting with great atmosphere even midweek. Excellent service and quality/variety of delicious Italian food. Couldn't fault it and we'll be back!
Have been using this restaurant for many years but last nights dining experience was fantastic. Food excellent, and a great atmosphere with live music playing
A very pleasant experience, very good food, well presented. The wine list is comprehensive and reasonably priced as are the menu items. worth a visit.
Lovely & charming with great food. The four of us had a great meal and we will go back again. We could not fault it
Best Italian restaurant in Aberdeen. Great value, Great food, Great service and the list continues. Amazing pizza and pasta. . . . . . .
Good food and singing owner! On the night of our visit a little short of staff due to illness but highly recommended. Food was excellent quality and good value.
Nice ambience, very good service, tasty food. Marvellous singing from our Italian host. The only down side was the price which was rather expensive, particularly £8 for a starter.
Nice meal served by friendly and attentive staff . Reasonable choice of dishes on the menu. Would definitely recommend this interesting little Italian restaurant on the outskirts of Peterculter.
Lunch was very good - especially the special 'lobster ravioli in a scallop and cream sauce'. Relaxed atmosphere and service was good - not rushed but attentive.
It was easy to book the restuarant using Quandoo. Which resulted in a most enjoyable evening with Good food and friendly staff. Will definitely book again.
Meal and atmosphere was brilliant. I had lasagne which was lovely, my husband had the beef special and the kids had pizza. We thoroughly enjoyd it.
Service very good, we all enjoyed the food. Very good overall experience. Would definitely recommend. Reasonable price with a cost atmosphere, has a certain charm
Great restaurant with different rooms and nice serving staff. With cat parking and a bottle shop which I will have to pop into next time
Reliable and authentic menu, great atmosphere and attentive, pleasant staff. Nice to see a local restaurant so busy - would recommend it to all, thanks
The food, atmosphere and staff were excellent. Only draw back was table was booked for 730, didn't get seated till 815. Would still go again!
