For nearly a decade now, Baja Cantina has been serving the very best in Mexican cuisine to local spice lovers and Tex-Mex fans in Sydney’s Glebe. Popular with students, Baja Cantina down Glebe Point Road dishes up mind-blowing burritos, tacos and cocktails that fill the gap without costing an arm and a leg. With numerous options for vegetarians, Baja Cantina is the perfect place to bring the whole crew for a generously apportioned evening of authentic flavour and creative drinks.
Chef and founder Robert Comings opened Baja Cantina to bring authentic California-inspired Mexican cuisine to the hungry masses on Sydney’s Glebe Point Road. Featuring its very own beer garden, Baja Cantina is a lovely place to while away the summer days with an ice-cold beer in hand. Visit the restaurant after 6pm for Mexican food like you’ve always dreamt of, with plenty of weekday specials that make dining at Baja Cantina affordable and accessible for Glebe’s large student population.
Perfect for diners who like eating big, Baja Cantina churns out hefty portions of Mexican cuisine without ever compromising on the quality of the ingredients. You won’t find canned beans or vegetables at this popular eatery – all of Baja Cantina’s dishes are made with the highest standard of quality, with special attention paid to diners who have food allergies or dietary restrictions. We recommend the baja fish tacos for all the seafood lovers out there, or the chimichanga (deep fried burrito) with your choice of filling for times when calorie counting is of no interest. Located in Sydney’s Glebe near Victoria Park, the cuisine at Baja Cantina should not be missed.
Baja Cantina has Some great food and drinks are cheap!! The serving sizes are massive so you get great value from your food there. T
It was great with delicious food and great service! A perfect place for large or small groups at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended for everyone
Super awesome food (again) and great staff!! Relaxed atmosphere and fantastic value for money. Easy location to get to with lots of bars and a of couple cinema around if you're looking for something else to do after your meal.
Food was just as fabulous and generous as every other occasions although I did find that our food came out rather quickly this time. Not that it’s a bad thing, we simply enjoy waiting for our food. We had after all just ate our starters, a little more of a time gap would have been nicer. Regardless, we had a really wonderful time there. 👍🏻
The overall experience was great - the atmosphere is buzzing! We made a reservation and were seated almost immediately. We had great seats, right out the front in the corner so we could people watch but also feel like it was just us 2. I ordered the sangria however the red wine was overpowering. For entree, we ordered the queso dip with corn chips - I expected the dip to be stringy with melted cheese but it was more like a french onion dip consistency. For mains we ordered the fajitas - super yum and the tostadas - not so yum. They were dry and flavour was lacking. So many people were walking in which is a testament to the good service and obviously food. Dinner for 2 $55 but not many alcoholic drinks ordered so no doubt it would be closed to $70 -80. Would go back.
This place has some of the best & most authentic Mexican in Sydney. We absolutely love it there. The atmosphere is great (loved the live music tonight) and the wait staff is friendly. Unfortunately, tonight they were also really hard to catch - flagging down a server for anything we needed challenging, and there were a couple of mixups with items we ordered. This is a rare occurrence, though - usually the service is just fine. Think we just caught a particularly busy night. We'll definitely be back, and if you want authentic Mexican (not Aussie-style Mexican fusion, but solid Mexican food you'd get at solid Mexican restaurants in the U.S.), this place is a great choice.
7 of us really enjoyed the mexican dinner at Baja Cantina on last Saturday night. Food (corm chips guacamole, calamari, baja salad, steak burrito, prawn fajita) and drink (jug of sangria) were plentiful to share and authentic mexican delicious. Service is fast and friendly. Would definitely come back.
Food was fabulous and of high quality and generous proportion. Service was good too. One thing I’d like to see changed is the spraying of sanitiser onto the table. It gets blown and spreads to diners and clean utensils and glasses sitting nearby. Other than that, it’s an excellent experience at Baja Cantina.
Baja Cantina is one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney. They have fast service, delicious food and reasonable prices. The serving sizes are enormous so be warned. Also if you get the 'fajitas' get one between two, I made that mistake once, never again.
Had a really great evening at Baja Cantina as always, the food was delicious (the queso dip in particular is to die for) and the service was incredibly quick and friendly. Would highly recommend this place to all, best Mexican in the area
