Bugis in Kampong Glam is already known as one of Singapore’s best districts for a hangout, to grab a coffee and take in some art or music. On a quiet corner along Jalan Pinang, Artistry is combining all of the above in a warm, inviting creative space with Singapore’s best coffee (from Liberty Coffee), walls hung with works by established and emerging artists, and regular live music and open mic nights. Even the excellent food is served on handmade pottery!
The creative community in Singapore’s Kampong Glam is growing faster than ever, and there’s a new addition to this explosive scene. Artistry is tucked away in the Bugis area, renowned for its rich heritage and up-and-coming status as one of Singapore’s creative hubs. Behind Artistry’s unassuming, converted shopfront down Jalan Pinang is an open, light-filled space scented with the aroma of locally roasted Liberty Coffee. Then there are the walls, adorned with stunning works of art by domestic and international artists. Clearly, Artistry is many things – a cafe, an exhibition space and, on your way over to the professional baristas busily brewing up the good oil for the locals, you may even be regaled by live music performed by up-and-coming or established musicians.
Clearly, Artistry is a prime example of the hybrid hangout/cafe and exhibition/performance spaces that are coming to define creative communities around the world. And the connection between the exhibition side of things and good food and coffee is not simply coincidental. For instance, Artistry’s lovingly crafted food and desserts, such as the red velvet cake, crab burger, and southern fried chicken (in Singapore!) are served on handmade pottery. There’s no doubt that this Bugis gem along Jalan Pinang is set to become another cornerstone in the new creative Singapore.
Went there for lunch as its near my work place in Suntec. Tried the vegetarian eggplant burger and batter fish burger. Generous portions of sides and tasty burgers!
the place has the best aglio olio in the area and great coffee and ambience. will definitely come back again w my friends and family.
Delightful meal venue with spacious indoor setting. Cafe food just right for gatherings. Live music nights are worth attending for a good relaxing meet with friends.
Great experience with Quandoo and Artistry, reservation process was swift and confirmation was received shortly after booking. Food at Artistry was great as usual, nothing short of fantastic.
Nice food and drinks, nice service and people, just limited space to walk through if the full house occurred. The kale chips above the potato harsh is quite a big amount yet oily for having it during the breakfast time. Love the fresh orange juice and never miss up the scrumptious french toast!! Definitely would visit Artistry again =)
The Beef and Cherry Pannini was quite enjoyable, as were the cakes. You need to take some initiative to get service, but the charm of Artistry is the exhibits and clientele.
The online booking was cool and the food was good! It was cosy. Music was a bit noisy initially but the change of genre later was good. I think the price used to be a bit lower. Other than that, there is room for improvement in terms of service. On the whole it was a good experience. I will go again.
Went in with a friend and had the signature chilli crab burger. Really awesome taste! A must-try I would say! Served with a rather humongous portion of fries, enough for even 2 pax to share adequately. Was there to chk out an ongoing HK Shop Cats photo exhibition and am glad we chose to dine in too!
Food was good, but certain dishes would be a tad too pricey. Would recommend the chilli crab burger. Service was attentive and helpful. Served dessert too early in our meal. Overall wasn't too busy or crowded on a Friday night.
Good food and generous portions. The chilli crab burger was full of crab meat and the chilli sauce tasted like the real thing! For desserts, the pb&j toast gets my recommendation.
