It was the tom yum seafood pasta that did it for 49 Seats, a western-Asian fusion masterpiece that takes the creaminess of an Italian pasta dish, the spiciness of the classic Thai soup, and the love of seafood from both culinary traditions, putting the lot in one dish. It made 49 Seats’ name – although the name does reflect the original number of seats in the restaurant, and the street address of this casual dining restaurant along Kreta Ayer Road. But the hype has long overspilled the original premises here in Chinatown, close to the action in Tanjong Pagar. There are now (far more than) 49 Seats in Bugis and Orchard, too. That said, many love the ‘raw industrial ambience’ of the original, so if you want to reserve one of those seats, you’d better book online now!
Helpful & polite staff that sees to our needs. Portions are reasonable. We ordered desserts but it wasnt served after the meal. It was till when we are going off then we remembered that the dessert was not served. It's quite stuffy & hot in the cafe. There's only one rotating fan & air con working.
Not very crowded around 8pm, probably people are there for supper. Ordered Tom Yam Seafood Pasta. It was really tasty and I do not mind going there again for their pastas!
The ambience is nice. Food quite normal. Had spaghetti. Good for small group gatherings. Reservation recommended as the place can be quite packed even on weekdays.
