The Return Cafe Bistro

Good & big portion of food being served. Cosy and warm welcome by the staff there. Overall experience is good. Recommended place to chill with your friends.

It was a short walk from Bugis MRT Station, in between the Mediterranean restaurants and Cafes. As it was night you might miss the shop sign was small plus the shop number is not indicated on the awnings unlike it's neighbours. Was at the entrance but there no one was around as the staff was busy at the drink station. The tables were wet, could be due to the earlier rain. No menu on the tables. Took a seat outside and waited for service. However, when the service staff finally is able to attend to us, he provided the menu, was very friendly and explained that for that day they were out of Salmon and Calamari due to supplier issue also the wraps and Shakes were crossed out from the menu. My friend and I ordered the appraisers Zesty Buffalo Wings - portions were generous could even be a main and shared with more people. It was crispy and finger licking good, reminded us of the Korean Chicken wings. The Mesclun Salad, was ok, we found that the dressing was too creamy and chicken gamey. It would have been nicer if it had a vinaigrette dressing instead to cut the other creamy dishes that we were having. The staff recommended us something that was not on the menu. The crab pesto salad, creamy crab meat with baby tomatoes on the side and on a bed of 'spicy' pesto sauce. Although portion is small it was delicious, and not spicy at all. For the mains we had the Penne Carbonara, creamy penne pasta with mushrooms and Cajun Dory that had carrot purree, broccoli, baby tomato, cream dill sauce. Both were delicious. To wash the food down, we both had ice lemon tea, which had mint leaves in them. We were both stuffed and could not try their desserts. Will definitely come back to try the other dishes, which we observed the other patrons had ordered, Wild Mushroom Soup, Baked Cheesy Shrooms, Signature Truffle Beef Burger, Fish and Chips.

Was quite disappointed with the carbonara as it does not taste like carbonara at all. It tastes like pasta with white mushroom sauce...rather bland. The pan fried salmon served with mashed potato n vegetables was dry and overcooked. The mashed potato was almost non existent.. and it was too watery that i thought it was the sauce. Price is expensive for such poor quality and overrated food

The spaghetti aglio olio was ok, prawns were fishy though & gave off the smell. However, shabsuka was good. Wasn't please when they served the chocolate shake without informing that they ran out of chocolate ice cream & thus used mocha ice cream instead, making that a mocha milkshake. This was not told to us until we asked which should not be the way. Food & drinks were slow, probably tight manning. Then again, we received a call for preorder so food can be serve on time which I find it defeats the purpose. Sorry for the negativity but it's my sincere review for you to look into.

We loved the experience there. Reservation was smooth. Table was ready when we arrived, and food was served promptly, despite the crowd. Awesome food, awesome people :)
